This little adapter is really well made thick CNC`d aluminium back plate and hardened (maybe stainless) steel face plate, there are no issues in quality at all and it is definitely worth the price. It is also very cleaver in its design, because the adapter centres on the QR skewer it is guaranteed to line up with the disk no matter what angle it sits at. However, it is really designed for large flat dropouts with near vertical slots, so it will require modification to fit some bikes, if it will fit at all. As you can see in my pics I had to cut quite a bit of the face plate away to get it to fit and as the plate is very hard it took a grinder and a pretty course Dremel bit to shape it. I also had to remove a little material from the back plate as it was fouling the axle nuts on my hubs.
So, if you have flat dropouts or have the means to do a little "surgery" then this I believe is the best solution to adding disk brakes to a non disk frame, other than visiting a frame builder.
Update.
I found an issue with this today and that is that when the brake is applied on an incline the whole thing wants to rotate backwards with the wheel, I solved it by making a small bracket to hook under the frame (see pics), It could be because my dropouts aren't flat or even the fact that I modified it that caused this issue but reading some of the the other reviews I think it more likely a design flaw. I still recommend it though providing you are handy with tools.

Before I bought this, I tried universal cheap ebay brackets for attaching disc brake callipers and there was far too much movement in them and the fit and quality was very poor. The A2Z is however perfect. Easy to fit and although my frame is not ideal for this bracket, the way it fits is flexible enough to make it work well on most frames I think. Looks pretty good too and actually looks like it belongs on the bike from new. There is no movement at all in the bracket when braking and it positions the calliper perfectly. Slight compromise must be made with this bracket as the skewers now have to be removed fully through the hole rather than just being loosened; not really a big deal as removing the rear wheel is always a pain anyway. Glad I found this product as I was very close to giving up on a disc brake conversion with the other crappy kit on the market.

For starters I didn't read the bit "not suitable for specialized bike frames" until after I bought it so some of this is on me.... having said that it does fit my 2001 Specialized Rockhopper FSR just fine, like other reviewers have said you can either fit some spacers/washers to the lower bolts or the silver plate will bend when they're tightened, not a big issue.

again as mentioned by one other reviewer it can be fiddle to fit and hold the rear wheel in place and tighten the skewer as the unit tended to pull the axle forward slightly, but pay a little attention and you'll get it. after this it was easy and fitted some old Hope Mono Mini's to the bike with ease.

BUT!! I used to have a shark fin adapter for this frame and it was great (google "specialized shark fin adapter"), much easier to fit, much quicker and it in no way interfered with the QR axle (if removing the rear wheel with the A2Z one you have to also remove the skewer not just loosen it) sadly I lost it in among building and stripping bikes and moving houses and they're no longer made. The old adapter felt soo much sturdier! with this unit if you hold the back brake and try to roll the bike backwards then the whole adapter rotates around, this does not inspire confidence!

Keep an eye on ebay and you'll see the old sharkfins appear, they normally go for a similar price to this unit or in a perfect world A2Z would start making them themselves.

If you want rear disk brakes but don't have rear IS or post mounts this is an ingenious little device, provided you have a flat non-drive side dropout. It took 15 min to fit and modify and then another couple to adjust my caliper but once its firmly seated the stopping power is so much better than V brakes. I did have to file off a little metal to get a flush fit and added some nylon spacers(not provided) to the bottom bolts to keep the metal plate from bending under tightening.

Considering the component is meant to be universal it wont fit every frame perfectly but if you are willing to do a little self modification it's much easier than parting with a well loved frame just because it doesn't have 2 little mounting eyelets. Also If you are doing any serious riding you will want to replace any standard rear wheel skewer with an xl as the plates increase the overall width by nearly a centimeter.

Very fast delivery (as usual for Amazon).
The Adaptor required a bit of work to fit to my frame because the dropout wasn't completely flat, but it's not adaptor's fault.
It is very well machined and works properly to transform your old V-brake frame into a disc brake frame, with a clean shape, especially if it's an unpainted aluminium frame.
Be aware that the output would result in a typical 140mm IS frame so if you need to buy adaptors to different rotor sizes and / or PM mounts you know where to start.
Tightening properly the four screws (and having a planar frame) will keep the whole assembly firmly in place even if you rotate the wheel backwards holding the back brake: the problem highlighted in a different review could depend to a bad "frame shape vs adaptor shape" matching.
